A new era of fruit trees has been created in Errol as local volunteers donned their gardening gloves and grabbed a spade to celebrate the Carse of Gowrie Orchard Festival.
The young trees were planted around the village to help ensure that the area’s rich apple heritage continues for years to come.
Orchards in the Carse have existed for more than 800 years, since the monasteries farmed and owned the grange lands in the 12th century.
A survey in 2007 showed that only 17 orchards remain of the original 51 documented.
The festival continues this weekend with a community fruit pressing event where participants can make their own juice and a fun day at Elcho Castle.
