Three people have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into what is now being described as an attempted murder in Kirkcaldy over the weekend.
Police have revealed that 38-year-old man is fighting for his life at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after sustaining serious injuries in an incident at Cawdor Crescent at around 5.30am on Sunday December 23.
His condition is currently described as critical and doctors will monitor the situation over the next few days.
A 42-year-old man was also seriously injured, and a 31-year-old woman sustained minor injuries during the incident. They were also taken to hospital, Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital, for treatment.
Two men, aged 27 and 35, and a 34-year-old woman, have since been arrested in connection with the disturbance and inquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Paul Dick of Kirkcaldy CID said: “We are currently treating this as a targeted attack and I want to reassure the community that a thorough investigation is underway.
“A man remains in a critical condition as a result and anyone who may have information which could be relevant is urged to come forward as soon as possible.”
Police have been at the property since the early hours of Sunday morning and have been conducting door-to-door enquiries.

The Courier understands the Cawdor Crescent incident is not being linked with the discovery of a man’s body in the town’s Adam Smith Court a few hours later.
