Based in the Highlands, photographer Johnny MacAulay is never short incredible sights to photograph.

We challenged him to pick his favourites and he came up with his top climb, golden hour beach and stop-off for a good feed.

Stac Pollaidh is my favourite mountain, and one I’ve now climbed 25 times! It’s the easiest hill walk you can do to get the most incredible views over Assynt.

It takes under an hour to get to the main viewpoint at the top if you have a decent level of fitness. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can scramble about at the top to try and get to the true summit.

Clachtoll Beach

Clachtoll Beach has to be one of the most photogenic in Scotland. My favourite time to visit is during golden hour to get beautiful light in my photos.

It’s a fab spot to visit to get away from it all and you can sit there for hours just watching the waves washing in in. The nearby Flossie’s Beach Store also makes the BEST bacon rolls.

When I’m up visiting my favourite part of Scotland, Assynt, I can’t not stop off at the legendary Seafood Shack in Ullapool for food.

All their meal options are delicious, but their best one is definitely their signature dish, the famous haddock wrap, one I’ve sampled (too) many times.
