An author is hoping to trace a Canadian tourist who brought a copy of one of his books on her trip to Scotland in case she bumped into him.

Craig Robertson, a former writer for The Sunday Post, has launched a search via social media to find the holidaymaker, named Sadie.

Sadie, from Nova Scotia, was in Stirling yesterday with her copy of Craig’s book The Photographer.

She met a friend of Craig’s, actor and historian David Kinnaird, and asked if he would sign her book – thinking he was Craig.

“It was the bald heid and the beard that did it,” Craig says. “It seems Sadie knows I’m from Stirling and is carrying the book around on the off chance she bumps into me.

“So seeing as she’s made the effort, so will I. If anyone can somehow locate Sadie before she leaves town, I’ll sign her book and buy her a coffee. Let me know!”

A number of tourist venues, including Doune Castle and Inchmahome Priory, have staff on the lookout for Sadie, as well as branches of Waterstones and Stirling’s libraries.

Craig has received messages from Italy, Canada and Ireland and will take his search to two Canadian radio stations this afternoon.
