The Scottish Newspaper Society supports the imPRESS Scottish Schools Media Awards, organised by Menzies Distribution, which seeks to recognise and encourage the best young writers, designers, photographers and editors working on secondary school publications.
And it also looks for those teams who show commercial acumen in selling and distributing their products.
The judges, including SNS director John McLellan, met this week to decide the short-lists and the winners will be announced at a special event at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on Friday June 13, at which there will also be workshops for the budding journalists and publishers.
“I was thoroughly impressed by the high standards in so many magazines and newsletters and there is clearly no shortage of talent in our schools,” said John McLellan.
