North-east charity plea for ‘forever home’ for dog

Animal rescuers are sending out a plea to find a “forever home” for a dog that has been in their care for two years.

Mrs Murray’s Home for Stray Dogs and Cats in Aberdeen has looked after border collie Max since he was 14-months-old and is now desperate to track down a suitable owner as he faces a third year in kennels.

Centre manager Marie Simpson said one of the biggest obstacles was that Max needed a household away from main roads.

“He was brought in to us because he got too big for the house,” she explained.

“He had been used to a country environment and he’s not used to traffic.

“Our girls here have tried to walk him to see how he gets on, but he gets really distressed with any traffic. He tries to lunge and chase cars, so he needs a home away from things like that which has proved quite difficult.

“He has also not been socialised properly as a youngster, and that’s going to take a lot of work with someone who’s got time to spend with him. Things like this really narrow down the field of people who may be suitable.”

A typical collie, Max has bags of energy and intelligence and needs a home where he can be kept stimulated – ideally without children or other animals.
